There’s one thing I can promise you and that’s if I see a golden retriever looking nobly out to sea, I will take its photo. Ditto verdant valleys and smoking volcano craters. (I would have taken more, but I was too busy thinking of this almost the whole helicopter tour.) It’s lucky we survived because this Saturday my mum, aged 60, races her fourth Hawaii Ironman World Championship here in Kona! My Dad is her coach and I am her support crew. Which means I walk by the sea listening to podcasts as she trains for a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and a 42.2km marathon. GO MUM!
