Three days in Melbourne. Marios, Brooklyn Arts Hotel, Monsalvat artist’s colony, rhubarb and berries with gingerbread and nougat icecream at Madame Sou Sou, Antica formula with soda and orange at Gertrude Street Enoteca, meetings, friends and long walks.

I’m in Darwin, right at the very top of Australia, visiting my parents. These are all taken along Nightcliff foreshore. 30 degrees every day, and sunny even when there’s a sudden, quick storm.

Any visit to Melbourne is incomplete without a trip to Heide, the gallery of Modern Art a fifteen minute taxi from Marios in Fitzroy or a slightly longer train ride from the city. From 1934 to 1981 it was home to Sunday and John Reed.
